As a Georgia boy and primarily a largemouth bass fisherman, I fell in love with North Carolina when I was stationed at Camp Lejeune while in the Marine Corps. On the weekends or during leave, I would find myself exploring the coast, finding new fishing places. I fished Onslow beach hard in 1993. Especially, the point in the live fire zone, North of Onslow beach, for some excellent drum runs at night. I can remember an excellent spring flounder run at Emerald Isles and Atlantic Beach. I was hooked on saltwater fishing and vowed I would return after the Marine Corps one day.
After the Marine Corps, I moved back to Georgia for college and got a degree in Business Informations Systems Management and started learning web development. After college, I took a job in Raleigh in 2001. Every other weekend I would go to Oregon Inlet and fish. I would venture further down OBX to Cape Hatteras, Avon, and Hatteras. When time allowed, I would go to Ocracoke. Now, I take my son surf fishing, usually on The Rip at Hatteras Inlet. I also spend some time with Michael fishing on the Sea Heaven out of Morehead City. I make the journey every chance I get.
So, why not put together two things I love? Fishing and Web Development. That is exactly what I did, and now you have OBX Report! A social network for the Outer Banks, bringing you the latest fishing, eating, and sleeping information.
